Do Cortisone treatments rapidly accelerate aging?
Cortisone is manufactured naturally by the body's adrenal glands and has been found to have a marked
anti-inflammatory effect.
In fact, Cortisone and its derivatives are steroids and are still among the most potent anti-inflammatory drugs
known to man.
They may be given as a pill, by injection into a vein or muscle OR in cremes for psoriasis, eczema, allergies,
etc.
Commonly, if steroids are taken for more than four weeks some shrinkage of the adrenal glands occurs, as their task
of producing cortisone has been reduced. So If illness or injury follows, the glands may not be able to produce
enough cortisone to keep one from going into shock.
In Long-term use, some of the more common side effects of steroids include:
- Adrenal gland shrinkage.
- changes in appearance, such as acne
- Hair thinning or loss.
- Development of a round or moon-shaped face and an increased appetite leading to weight gain.
- Indeed Steroids may also cause a redistribution of fat, leading to a swollen face and abdomen, but thin
arms and legs- Especially when used in children. Which may well dis'fugure' the child in how the body stores
fat improperly for the rest of the child's life.
- Cataracts.
- Muscle weakness
- Avascular necrosis of bone
- Osteoporosis
- In some cases, the skin becomes more fragile & thined, which leads to easy bruising.
- Diabetes
- Glaucoma
- Although rare, Cortisone may disturb menstrual cycles, and can cause elevated blood pressure to rise or
diabetic control to worsen.
- High blood pressure
- often increases cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood.
- Reduce calcium absorption through the gastrointestinal tract that may result in osteoporosis, or thinning
of the bones. Of course, Osteoporosis can lead to bone fractures, especially compression fractures of the
vertebrae, causing severe back pain.
- Premature arteriosclerosis, which is a narrowing of the blood vessels by fat (cholesterol) deposits.
- Avascular necrosis of bone means blood supply to bones is lost resulting in Bone-Death, usually associated
with high doses of cortisone over long periods of time, produces hip pain and an abnormal MRI scan. It occurs
most often in the hip, but it can also affect the shoulders, knees and other joints. If fully developed,
avascular necrosis is painful and often requires surgical joint replacement for pain relief.
- Two injections of cortisone can destroy the beta cells of the pancreas in people with
diabetes as well.
- In children, steroids can suppress growth.
- Psychological side effects of steroids include irritability, agitation, euphoria, depression or
Insomnia
-Any or all these changes in mood or appearance may begin within days.
SO! Let me ask you a question. How many of the 21 points listed above are aging
symptoms?
Well, a full & stunning 18 are actually those symptoms which describe the ill-effects of aging itself.
Stunning!
Amazed!
Indeed after 28 years of Naturopathic fulltime practice we have found that we must not only relieve ill-effects
of fibrosis to Antiage effectively we must ALSO detox the body of cortisone toxicity in the person so
afflicted via the Antifibrosis Chia seed method we have developed thus far.
For even cortisone cremes are SO powerful at aging the body we must ALSO include a
Cortisone detoxification herb in the Antiaging Pak else only partial antiaging benefit will occur.
Do you think the following(Listed above), in general, are diseases of the
Aged?
- Not only do Adrenal glands shrink as we age but so too does the rest of our
glands
- Changes in appearance are certainly signs of aging BUT of course acne is the domain of the young
mostly.
- Of course hair thinning & loss are both signs of aging.
- This point alludes to body shape which certainly does change as we age although a moon-face or increase in
appetite are largely NOT related to aging
- Steroids force a reduistribution of body fat, mostly on the torso which of course is a
direct sign of aging for most in the Western World. Viz: An increase in visceral/organ or torso fat is a
definite sign of aging.
- Cataracts are a definite SIGN OF AGING.
- Muscle weakness is a definite sign of aging.
- Points 8 & 18 above largely allude to the very same thing in bone necrosis of
back, hip & knees leading to joint replacement. Now, Necrosis may not necessarily be the disease of the
aged BUT certainly knee, hip & other joint degenerations in need of Surgical
replacement certainly ARE largely the domain of the aged.
- Osteoporosis is DEFINITELY the disease of the aged.
- Thin skin & easier bruising are definite signs of the aged.
- Diabetes type II is Definitely a disease of the aged. In fact your Doctors view of
diabetes IS that: 'the older you get, sooner-or-later Diabetes WILL-GET-YOU'.
- Glaucoma is another disease of the aged mostly.
- Menstrual irregularity is certainly NOT an age related malady.
- High Blood Pressure or hypertension is certainly an aged disease.
- Cholesterol is largely an aged persons issue.
- Osteoporosis causing fracture is certainly an aging issue.
- Arteriosclerosis is CERTAINLY an aged disease.
- See point '8' above.
- Diabetes once again is laregly age related.
- Growth suppression is generally NOT age related. Although,
shrinking in height certainly is aged related.
- The psychologic problems mentioned above are certainly NOT directly related to the aged mainly.
However insomnia commonly is related to the aged.
What is the mechanism via which Cortsone acts to accelerate aging?
Most of us, even Naturopaths agree, that the vast bulk of Doctors 'out-there' have
THE greatest respect & best intent for their patients.
Unfortunately prescribed DRUGS ARE POTENT by their very nature, & of course have side-effects- sometimes, even
FATAL side effects and Cortisone is NO different however it's length of list of side-effects is
legendary & exhaustive.
In a nutshell, our research suggests it disrupts Bioflavanoid pathways
limiting the structural integrity of the human body. This finding further explains just why it is sooo
difficult to build up Bioflavanoid levels in the body for some. Suffice to say, soooo powerful is Cortisone
that even one injection can impair Bioflavanoid metabolism for the rest of your life.
Why is Collagen so important to effective antiaging?
Collagen is literally 'the glue' that holds your physical body together.
Joints, Tendons, Ligaments, Muscles, Cartilage, bones, teeth, etc are all badly
ill-effected. Indeed, Scurvy-like symptoms can accrue: even occasional bleeding tendency or bruising occur..
Therefore we have had to add some specific flavanoids to the Chia seed antiaging mix to help gain
uninterrupted antiaging-Antifibrosis benefit to unfold.
